I am... an award nominee

As part of their latest campaign, Orange teamed up with cyclist Mark Beaumont. He's quite a chap: on Friday 15 September 2007 this young Scotsman began his bid to cycle round the world in the fastest time ever. You can watch the video Orange made with Mark about his journey above.

Covering a total of 18,297 exhausting miles, he finally completed his trip 194 days later. For his efforts he is the Guinness World Record holder by a whopping margin of 81 days. That's what we call tough.

Now Mark is being recognised again, this time with a nomination in the Sport category for the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards. The special people nominated for these awards are the elite in the areas of sport, food, environment, art, writing, music, film and business. The winners are chosen by the public, so the award is even more special.

Show your support for this very determined and deserving young man by visiting the website and casting your vote.

We have so what are you waiting for?

  2. Mark's achievement is simply awesome. It is hard to conceive just how proud his family and friends must be. The physical and mental torture endured must have pushed the boundaries of human potential. Mark is a true inspiration to us all - a greater sporting achievement is hard to imagine. Good luck on all future ventures, Mark
PS I think the TV coverage should win an award too!
